Amazing SIX Puppies
About 8 years ago I was in New York for a family wedding and staying with my son Mark who lives in West Babylon. My son Peter. was also there who was in from Virginia. He brought with him his new Shih Tzu puppy. Needless to say I fell in love with that little fur ball. When I returned home to California after the visit and the wedding, the first thing I did was go on the internet and start looking for a puppy. A Shih Tzu puppy. The more pictures I saw of the Shih Tzu puppy the more I want to get one as soon as possible. I decided to go to my local Pet store and buy a book on Shih Tzus. The Village Pet store in Glendora is run by Sue who works with local breeders. She helps place the puppies in good familys. So when I got there that night she happen to have two Shih Tzu puppies in the window. Amazing. Needless to say I went home with a puppy instead of a book.
That little bundle of joy became Monty. The cutest, smartest little guy. He has started my journey into the Shih Tzu world. Shih Tzus are like Lays Potato Chips, you can not have just one.
Yes we decided to get a female and mate him. We went to Las Vegas to a breeder and got little Missy. We did not mate them because she had a few flaws. So we were on the hunt for the perfect little girl for him. We did find the right one. She came from a breeder from back east but we pick her up from Filmore CA. I knew she was the right one as soon as I looked into her eyes. Two black saucers of eyes and she was half white and half red. So beautiful.
So then there were three. Well once Kimi came of age I started researching all about breeding. It was fascinating. I went back to the breeder in Las Vegas. She had a great web site full of information on the breeding and the delivery so I got all the information I thought I needed and I studied and gathered everything for the big event. So they did mate and they had two babies.
Kimi was a young mom but she did a great job. I did help in the delivery. I opened the sacs and cut the cords. We had a boy and girl who are now Duke and Duchess. They are 5 years old already.
I have taken each one to obedience training at Pet Smart. Getting them around other dogs and socializing them as much as possible. Work with them at home also walks every day and becoming the Pack Leader. That is something that is very important especially when you have a Pack.
After the babies were about a year old I got the urge again. So off to see Sue again at the Village Pet store in Glendora and told her I was wanting to get another litttle girl. So she put me on the list and and called we a few months later and said she had a few puppies coming in in a few days. Well I was so excited again. I just love having the babies in the house. Well we got our new little girl who is now Niki.
She was the most exotic looking Shih Tzu I ever saw. Very unique and different looking. She is tan with a black face and howls. She talks all the time.
It is amazing then there were SIX.
